Diversity and Inclusion Policy

CARD is committed to fostering; cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion in the communities, we serve.

Our volunteers and staff are the most valuable asset we have. We welcome differences in age, colour, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique. We work to ensure that all people feel a sense of belonging and support from our organization.

CARD’S diversity initiatives:

  • Volunteers are placed in groups where they fit best regardless of age, gender or race.
  • Employee compensation or recognition is based on experience and not gender/race.
  • Actively encouraging respectful communication and cooperation between all employees and volunteers.
  • Fostering teamwork and employee/volunteer participation, permitting the representation of all groups and employee/volunteer perspectives.

All employees and volunteers of CARD have a responsibility to treat each other and others with dignity and respect at all times. All employees and volunteers are expected to exhibit conduct that reflects inclusion during work, at work functions on or off the work site, and at all other company-sponsored and participative events. All employees are also required to attend and complete annual diversity awareness training to enhance their knowledge to fulfill this responsibility.

Any employee or volunteer found to have exhibited any conduct or behaviour not consistent with this policy may be subject to disciplinary action.
